KNIGHT RIDER:
The shadowy flight into the
dangerous world of a man who does not exist:
Michael Long was working as an undercover cop trying to
break a crime ring. During a fouled capture he is seriously injured with a
single gun shot to the head, and left for dead next to his car.
After the shooting Michael fades in and out of conscious. Weeks later he awakens
surrounded by doctors in a guest room of a mysterious mansion. Devon Miles greats Michael and explains that Michael
Long is dead, Michael has a been given a new face by plastic surgeons and he has a new
identity - Michael Knight. Later Devon brings Michael to meet dying millionaire,
Wilton Knight - the founder of Knight Industries, and the Foundation for Law And
Government (F.L.A.G.).
Wilton bequeaths the belief that "One man can
make a difference" to Michael and encourages him to use his new identity to make
that belief a reality.
Michael is unsure about Wilton and all the strange
activity in a certain building of the Knight estate. Secretly He sneaks out of his room during
the middle of the night to see why all the personal in white lab coats come and
go all day long. Silently he enters the building and finds only darkness. Suddenly he
is startled by a bright red glow then a series of cycling red lights. A jet engine
roars to life and the lights race toward Michael at an unbelievable speed! The
lights stop just short of ramming into Michael and building lights come on.
Devon greets Michael again and presents Michael with his car - a new black
Pontiac Trans Am. Michael knows it's his car, he had one just like it for
several months now. Devon explains that it is not the car he bought, but made to
look like it. This car is the strongest, safest car in the world - The Knight
Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T.).
Devon explains to Michael his and Wilton's desire for him to use K.I.T.T. and
the resources of F.L.A.G. to make a difference in a world of criminals who operate
above the law. Michael settles to one mission with the car and soon finds the
artificial intelligence, K.I.T.T., to be slightly annoying. However, as they
work together they form a strong bond. Michael decides to continue on with F.L.A.G.
and champion the cause of the innocent the helpless, the powerless, in a world
of criminals that operate above the law.
